At the Wacky Wombat Circus school we are developing our basic motor skills further, building confidence, teamwork skills, problem solving abilities and strengthening the belief system in the children that they are capable and can over come challenges all disguised as having fun, playing games and learning some cool tricks.
There is the opportunity to work towards certificates acknowledging the work put in and rewarding the learning process. This works really great at giving the children something to aim for and keeping them motivated in manageable and achievable steps.
There is a big emphasis on learning through games and challenges, making it fun and engaging. and starting the journey to learning some of the basic skills defined. The biggest goal at this stage is to create ‘I can’ attitude encouraging the children to have more than one attempt at things. Once you see them achieve something for the first time you see the little light bulb switch on inside their brain and turn and say “I can do this! What else can I do?”
We start to focus more on developing the actual skills. Still using games and fun exercises we learn to gain more control over the props and our bodies and start to look at using the skills in performance.
